Hi James,
I finally discovered this thread. Your pictures are awesome and bring back so many fond memories of my travels through the Abacos on my Mac 26X - The Edge. Little has changed in the past 5 years.
All was going well as I explored the Abacos. My only luxury was a good cup of coffee just before dawn. I didn't bother with any form of refrigeration. New friends were just an anchor away.
My downfall happened when I agreed to cat (as in 4 kitty cats) sit for a Dutch lady on Great Guana Cay for 6 weeks. She had an estate to die for...the main house faced the ocean and her boathouse/elaborate private dock faced the sea. There was luxury, opulence, privacy and "security". When I finally returned to life on The Edge, everything had changed. Everyone had bailed out for the States as hurricane season was pending. It was so lonely. I headed for Florida, too. I travelled for 3 days without seeing another cruiser.
There are tales to tell here but the bottom line for me was...sailing alone can be pretty lonely, even (especially?) when you are in a tropical paradise. Don't linger too long.
You have many months before hurricane season. Enjoy everyday.
